The Baton begins its journey in East Dunbartonshire on 19 July, travelling through Bearsden, Milngavie, Bardowie, Torrance, Lennoxtown, Milton of Campsie, Twechar, Kirkintilloch, Lenzie and Bishopbriggs.
Around 100 people will be involved as batonbearers and big crowds are expected at key locations.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance for local communities to see the Queen’s Commonwealth Baton up close and to cheer on the Baton bearers helping to make history.
- A variety of family fun, activities and games at Allander Leisure Centre (Baton arrives at 9.30am) and Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre (Baton arrives at 4.45pm).
- Special celebrations within Milngavie Precinct, with the chance to get close to the Baton and enjoy a host of entertainment (Baton arrives at 10am).
- A unique chance to watch the Baton travelling by canal boat – between Barleybank and the Marina in Kirkintilloch (from 3.50pm).
- The Queen’s Baton Relay finale event at Bishopbriggs Leisuredrome, featuring live music, Zumba, sports activities, interactive fun with Glasgow Science Centre, performances by Games mascot Clyde and a theatre company, drummers, choirs and more. The event is on from 5pm-8.30pm. Everyone is invited to attend the finale celebration to help mark the historic occasion and bid farewell to the Baton.

1.30pm – Arrive in Milton of Campsie, Birdston Road
1.45pm – Arrive in Twechar Main Street
1.50pm – Twechar Healthy Living Centre (variety of activities planned)
3pm – Arrive in Kirkintilloch
3.15pm – Hillhead Community Centre
3.25pm – Peel Park/Auld Kirk Museum (variety of activities planned)
3.50pm – Cowgate – activities taking place at Barleybank, around the canal bridge
4pm – Forth and Clyde Canal – Marina
4.50pm – Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre (variety of activities planned)
5.35pm – Arrive in Lenzie
5.50pm – Arrive in Bishopbriggs, Auchinairn Road
6pm – Bishopbriggs town centre and on to Bishopbriggs Library
6.45pm – Bishopbriggs Leisuredrome – finale event to celebrate the end of the Queen’s Baton Relay in East Dunbartonshire
